this entrance beyond civilization
so many times

this track into the wall of trees
this leak into the dark world
it pushed me away
I mistook myself to be
afraid
of what might come out
so I fastened my eyes
on buildings nearby
and streetlights
I used to increase my speed
to escape this dreadful night

only to find myself to be
a magnet of its own kind

among branches
spread by the wind
from a tree
an opening for you
